With the move-in on 6 July 2026, the first construction phase at the Grund- und Mittelschule (primary and middle school) on Hammerschmiedweg in Wolfratshausen has been successfully completed. The general refurbishment and extension – the town’s largest construction project – has been under way since 2023 while lessons continue, is being carried out in several successive phases and is due to be fully completed by 2029. Phase one delivered a new primary school building with an entrance hall: on four identical floors, five classrooms of around 60 square metres each are arranged around an open learning area. The classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards and decentralised ventilation units, and the whole building is step-free, served by two staircases and a lift. The basement houses the building services – power supply, ventilation and IT – as well as a teaching pool, while a heat pump on the roof provides the heating. Once hazardous materials have been removed, the old school building will be demolished, followed by phase two: a new building for the middle-school classes and all-day care. In total, the school will gain 16 additional classrooms, allowing 36 classes to be taught in future.
